Job Description
• Load, unload and transport construction materials
• Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks shoring and barricades
• Mix, pour and spread materials
• Level earth to fine grade specifications
• Clean and pile salvaged materials
• Remove rubble and other debris at constructions sites
• Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction
• Observe and assist the journeymen plumbers with repairs
• Assist in the operation of drain machines
• Understand and explain differences between gravity based systems versus pump based systems
• Learn and understand the musical codes related to drainage
• Assist in joining pipes using solvent fusion, compression and mechanical joints
• Assist in connecting copper portable pipes
• Assist in joining poly PEX piping using compression and crimping
• Assist in the installation of kitchen faucets and basin faucets
• Assist in the removal of toilets, bathtubs and garburators
• Interact and communicate with customers in a professional and timely manner
• Write and present quotations for new contracts
• Document, along with the journeymen plumbers, the completed jobs in an accurate and clear manner
Work conditions and physical capabilities
Fast-paced environment, tight deadlines, repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads (weight handing up to 45kg-100 lbs), physically demanding, manual dexterity, overtime required
Construction specialization
Driveways, industrial, commercial and institutional, residential, water mains, sidewalks and curbs
Requirements
- Education: No degree, certificate or diploma required
- Experience: experience as a general construction labourer or plumber helper is an asset
- Equipment and machinery experience (asset): Jackhammers, drills, augers, sledgehammer
- On-the-job training will be provided
Salary: $20.00 to $21.00 per hour, 40.00 Hours per week (expected overtime)
Benefits: Transportation, Disability (after 6 months), Extended Medical Insurance (after 6 months), Dental Insurance, Canadian Pension Plan. If the candidate is willing to relocate, transportation costs are covered by the employer.
Important Information: This position will require working 40 hours per week in the summer, a minimum of 30 hours of work per week is guaranteed during the winter time. Work day starts at 8.30 AM and finishes at 5.00 PM in the summer from Monday to Friday. In the winter, the work day varies depending on temperature. Weekends and evenings on a rotational basis
