Job Description
Birla Carbon Hamilton Plant is looking for three (3) full-time Instrumentation and Electrical Technicians within the Maintenance and Repair Department. The successful candidate, under the direction of the E&I Supervisor, will be responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on various types of equipment to maximize operating reliability. The ideal candidate NEEDS TO HAVE Industrial Electrician and/or Construction and Maintenance Electrician License valid in Ontario (309A or 442A Journeyperson)

We Need You To:

Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, calibrate, alter/modify and make installations to the facility's electrical and instrumentation systems
Determine the impact of work, communicates with department management and customers to schedule activities to reduce the impact on production schedules
Work with team members and vendors to provide expertise and evaluate the effectiveness of the systems
Help to identify efficiencies and continuous improvements
Work from blueprints, drawings, schematics or other specifications to effectively troubleshoot, maintain and repair equipment
Troubleshoot, maintain, adjust, repair, calibrate and install all types of electrical and instrumentation equipment having complex interlocking or inter-related circuits (Distribution Controls Systems, PLC's, controllers, electronic circuits, motors or other transmission equipment) and improvise acceptable temporary solutions to allow safe continued operations
Install/troubleshoot/repair/calibrate/alter pneumatic control systems and facility lighting systems
Create/maintain all relevant information and documentation (Maintenance work orders, ESA logbook, update drawings, files, records, manuals, etc.)

Experience & Abilities you bring:

Need to have Industrial Electrician and/or Construction and Maintenance Electrician License valid in Ontario (309A or 442A Journeyperson)
Instrumentation and Control Technician Certification (apprenticeship/diploma)
Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical instrumentation and control system maintenance
Experience in a large scale manufacturing facility
Previous exposure to 5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen or other continuous improvement programs will be considered an asset
Experience with Distribution Control Systems (APACS and DeltaV) will be considered an asset
Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Developed analytical and troubleshooting skills
Able to operate basic mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic (computerized) controls
Shift/Working Conditions:

Able to climb stairs and ladders, work at heights and work in dusty environments
Able to work outdoors and in all weather conditions
Able to lift at least 50 lbs
Occasional overtime/on-call duties as required
Overtime as required
Ability to work shifts including weekends as required
