Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and experienced High Voltage Cable Jointer with cable manufacturing experience and knowledge of products such as Pfisterer, NKT, and LS Cable. Oil jointing experience with LPFF and HPFF cables would be an asset, but it is not required to apply for the position. As a High Voltage Cable Jointer, you will be responsible for splicing, terminating, and repairing XLPE, Pilc, and EPR cables, including cable terminations. Your expertise in cable manufacturing, product knowledge, and optionally oil jointing will be instrumental in ensuring the safe and reliable transmission of high voltage electrical power.



Responsibilities:



-Perform cable jointing activities for high voltage XLPE, Pilc, and EPR cables.

-Install and connect cable terminations and accessories: Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical distribution and transmission systems.

-Splice, terminate, and repair cables according to industry standards and specifications.

-Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including test results and reports

-Conduct inspections and tests on cables to identify faults or potential issues

-Apply cable manufacturing knowledge, specifically with products such as Pfisterer, NKT, and LS Cable, to ensure high-quality joints and terminations: Read and interpret blueprints

-Ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulations at all times

-Utilize appropriate tools and equipment to carry out cable jointing tasks.

-Climb ladders or operate hydraulic buckets

-Collaborate with other team members to coordinate jointing activities and project deadlines.

-Adhere to quality standards to deliver reliable and high-quality cable jointing services.

-Work in confined spaces to install power lines and cables and associated equipment

-Utilize appropriate tools and equipment to carry out cable jointing tasks.

-Drive a drive a truck to sites to bring tools and equipment



Requirements:

-Education: Completion of secondary school

-Experience: At least 4 years of experience in the trade is required. If the candidate does not have the experience, the completion of a provincial three- or four-year lineman/woman apprenticeship program OR high school, college or industry courses in electrical technology is required

-Proven experience as a High Voltage Cable Jointer or similar role is required.

-Cable manufacturing experience, preferably with XLPE, Pilc, and EPR cables is required.

-In-depth knowledge of XLPE, Pilc, and EPR cables and their jointing techniques is required.

-Familiarity with cable termination methods and procedures is a strong asset.

-Manufacturing knowledge of products such as Pfisterer, NKT, and LS Cable is a strong asset.

-Oil jointing experience with LPFF and HPFF cables is an asset.

-Valid driver’s license is required

Salary: $57.72 hourly, as per collective agreement. 40-48 hours per week.

Important Information:

This position will require working 40-48 hours per week. Flexibility in schedule is required. The schedule is 10-12 hours per day including weekends, depending on the projects and business needs. Sometimes 3 weeks in a row and then a 2 weeks off.
