Responsibilities:

DESCRIPTION:

This internship is designed to support the maintenance department within the Maintenance Inventory Management team. In this position the intern may assist analysis, presentations, and recommendations while supporting the Procurement, Planning, and Logistics groups in order to improve efficiency and reduce the operating costs of the current and future distribution and transportation network.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

As part of this job the intern may be required to assist with a variety of projects related to aviation supply chain including but not limited to:

  • Develop, refine, and report on KPIs (key performance indicators) for the global supply chain leadership
  • Gather and interpret relevant data to inventory, assess costs, productivity, demand patterns, etc.
  • Develop relationships and partner with other SWA functional areas such as Production, Purchasing, Planning, and Material Stores to drive maximum customer satisfaction and profitability
  • Develop key performance reports and distribute them to appropriate stakeholders
  • Support the development of SWAs global Supply Chain strategy
  • Perform industry, competitor, and customer research to identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities
  • Lead key global initiatives and projects across the organization, apply Lean principles to assess and recommend key areas for improvement and facilitate discussions to reduce operational cost and increase customer satisfaction
  • Provide analytical support for projects and proposals
  • Investigate problems, find root causes, and implement solutions
  • Create documentation and standard work across the supply chain; establishing policies and procedures to align and synchronize the supply chain
Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

EDUCATION:

Progress towards a degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Finance is preferred

Minimum junior level.

To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a full time student (minimum 12 credit hours).

Maintained 2.75or above cumulative GPA.

EXPERIENCE:

Understanding of major supply chain processes, supplier and customer interface

Knowledge of Continuous Improvement/Lean Six Sigma philosophies.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

Participation in trade/industry organizations, community involvement, and/or school clubs preferred.

Excellent analytical skills are preferred

Understanding of manufacturing and quality principles is preferred

Excellent written and verbal communication skills is required

Must be able to work successfully in a team environment

Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously in a timely and professional manner is a necessity.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:

Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

Excellent analytical and organizational skills required.

Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines and work well under pressure.

FAA Airman Certificates and Ratings highly preferred (Dispatcher or Pilot).

TIME COMMITMENT:

PAY:
