Responsibilities:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Market Strategy Analyst Intern will be assisting with a variety of things including market management which includes revenue responsibility and the management of inventory levels of passenger fares available on southwest.com.

The Revenue Management department is looking for an individual who is motivated and passionate about airline commercial business, revenue management, pricing, and analytics.

During the internship the Market Strategy Analyst Intern will be expected to participate in an intensive Revenue Management training program giving them the visibility of pricing strategies of actual Southwest Airlines competitive markets.

The Market Strategy Analyst Intern may conduct in depth research on market competition and market performance.

During the internship, the Intern may be asked to make presentations on market competition and performance, as well as other assigned projects to the Yield Team in Revenue Management.

Assist with preparation of special requests coming from Revenue Management Leadership.

Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

This position requires authorization to work in the United States as a permanent employee without sponsorship.

EDUCATION:

Progressing towards a 4 year degree in Economics, Engineering, Finance, Math, Supply Chain, Aviation/Airline, or Business related fields.

Minimum Junior level.

To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours.)

Maintained 3.0 or above cumulative GPA.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:

Must possess a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Proficiency in Excel 's advanced functions (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, graphing, etc. ) is preferred.

Able to use Word to write memos communicating the result of their work.

Able to use PowerPoint to build presentations for verbal communications.

Experience using forecasting software, forecasting models is a plus.

Experience using SQL is a plus.

Able to work with minimum guidance and professionalism.

Basic knowledge of Airline metrics is a plus.

Ability to multi-task in a fast pace environment.
