- Supervises craft employees, both directly and through assigned foremen, ensuring that scheduled work is performed in a safe and efficient manner. These craft employees include ironworkers as well as millwrights. This position will require indirect oversight and coordination with other crafts such as carpenters, scaffold builders, pipe fitters and insulators.
- Develops job scopes and estimates necessary to define and schedule new work.
- Has the interpersonal skills necessary to 1)build a solid team with his crew and 2) develop strong client relationships based on his technical and management skills that result in an increasing backlog of future work.
- Coordinates O&M and/or construction efforts, ensuring that manpower, materials and equipment are efficiently utilized, safety standards are met, client schedule for the work is maintained, and quality of work is acceptable to the client.
- Maintains a positive, constructive relationship with craft and supervision in other disciplines.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains detailed knowledge of safety rules and regulations by working with the Site Safety Manager.
- Stays current in his primary craft (precision millwright), and conducts training for his crew to upgrade their skills.
- Takes personal ownership of the safety culture of his crew, and works to improve pre-task planning and safe project execution 100% of the time.
- Enforces safety regulations and procedures, and performs necessary discipline for safety infractions when appropriate.
- Maintains open, effective communication with the Site Manager, Project Manager(s) and other craft supervision.
- Plans the work, develops cost estimates and schedules for the work, and coordinates as needed with other crafts and the client representative to keep the work moving forward.
- Responsible for maintaining knowledge of applicable blueprints, specifications, procedures, work schedules and standards for assigned work.
- Maintains effective crew assignments by matching the skill set and work assignments of individual crew members.
- Maintains the housekeeping standards of Fluor throughout his assigned work areas, office area break areas used by his crew, and other areas as assigned.
- Meets quantity and quality expectations for assigned work.
- Maintains a motivated work crew through effective employee relations and strong leadership.
- 10 years as a precision MW in pulp/paper or power/turbine environment.
- Heavy industrial experience is a necessity.
- 5+ years as a MW Foreman and General Foreman
-Experience supervising welders, ironworkers and boilermakers is a plus, but not a requirement.
