Position Summary

Virgin Galactic (VG) www.VirginGalactic.com is seeking a Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Maintenance Coordinator with experience in a commercial, military, or flight test setting. This role will provide technical and logistical support to the Tech Ops Department and overall Spaceline Operations. This is a full-time position at Virgin Galactics Mojave, CA test flight facility with permanent relocation to Virgin Galactics base of operations, Spaceport America / Las Cruces, NM.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities

This position coordinates with vehicle maintenance, supply chain, GSE, facilities, and flight operations to properly support efficient flight operations and scheduled/unscheduled maintenance. This is accomplished by efficient workflow/repair scheduling, adequate materials availability, and a well-managed Tool Control Program. The GSE Maintenance Coordinator is expected to apply professional technical expertise and guidance to help resolve complex problems.

  • Coordinate day-to-day scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of Ground Support Equipment via MRO software to ensure operations stay on schedule.
  • Coordinate Maintenance Planning, Asset Managers, Management, and Flight Ops to determine maintenance and support flight schedule requirements.
  • Communicate material needs (future and immediate) to the Procurement team, track as necessary.
  • Review and audit completed work packages for completion and accuracy.
  • Manage tooling and equipment manuals.
  • Manage the Tool Control Program, enforcing program as outlined in the VG General Maintenance Manual.
  • Perform periodic inspection and measurements of tooling and equipment for defects and wear.
  • Maintain calibration database and arrange for calibrations to be performed at set intervals.
  • Perform issuance and receipt inspections of Precision Tooling and reconfigurable Ground Support Equipment.
  • Mark and identify tooling and equipment using ID tags, Stamps, and RFID Chips. Keep tooling database up to date.
Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Must have High School diploma or GED
  • Must have three or more years in Maintenance Planning, Coordinating, Service Advising, or relative work experience.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must have knowledge of computers and software: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
  • Must have general knowledge of MRO software
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and work any shift, including weekends
  • Must be willing to relocate permanently to vicinity of Spaceport America in New Mexico

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Three or more years direct experience managing/coordinating maintenance workflow.
  • Previous experience as GSE or Automotive Technician.
  • Strong Tooling Knowledge
  • Experience with Ultramain MRO Software highly desired

Physical and/or Additional Requirements

  • Must be highly organized and able to handle stressful situations
  • Must be able to manipulate heavy tooling and equipment, up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods 8 hours min.

ITAR Requirements

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR 120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
