Job Responsibilities:
Golder is a global, employee-owned engineering consultancy, providing services in specialist areas of earth, environment and energy.

We are currently seeking an Environmental Technician/ Driller to join our Contaminated Land team based in Cairns.

Your key responsibilities will include:
* Operate and maintain push tube drill rigs including ordering of parts and consumables
* Install, operate and maintain remediation equipment e.g. groundwater recovery systems and hydrocarbons skimming systems
* Collection of groundwater and soil samples
* Collation of data in excel worksheets
* Classification and preparation of samples for analysis
* Assist Engineers and Scientists in site investigation and remedial works
* Identifying health and safety hazards, near misses and incidents
* Actively control and eliminate hazards related to your tasks on a daily basis
* Internal and external client interface and management

Job Requirements:
In order to succeed in this role, you will possess the following skills and attributes:
* Previous environmental sampling and drilling experience
* Ability to work independently or co-operatively and under the direction of engineers and scientists dependent on project requirements
* Utilise problem solving abilities and mechanical skills in the field
* Natural aptitude to operate and maintain field equipment
* Basic mathematical skills essential
* Computer literate with experience using Microsoft Office products
* Eagerness to learn new technical and leadership skills e.g. soil logging; supervision of subcontractors
* Construction Induction Card (White Card)
* Manual Drivers Licence
