The Driller I is an entry level seismic Driller position on a seismic drilling crew. The Driller I is responsible for operating a seismic drill and responsible for the shot hole drilling equipment. Driller I is also responsible for supervising/teaching the Driller Assistant l and ll.

Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
Ensure assigned equipment is maintained in good working condition. Equipment may include a vehicle, UTV, seismic drill (whether self propelled or not) and seismic air compressor.
Drill holes to the required depth, prepare the charge and load the hole in accordance with company policies, client requirements, industry recommended practices and government standards if applicable.
Accurately log the depth of loaded shot holes. Plug, tamp holes and flatten cuttings as required by client and government requirements. Check explosive detonators after hole loading for integrity using the appropriate equipment.
Drive the rig to the next shot point (as applicable)
Perform an accurate count of all detonators and explosives upon receiving as well as periodically throughout the day and document on the daily drill log.
Handle and store all explosives as required by company policy, government regulation, and industry recommended practices.
Enforce the critical work zone rule, as defined by company policy, around the drill at all times.
Complete Drill Logs, Fuel Logs, Time Sheets, Audits/Inspections on Drills, Trucks, Lines and Shot Points, JSA's, Conduct Safety Audits, Terrain Assessments, Explosive Inventories and conduct New Employee Orientations for each type of equipment; all as they are required and ensuring all documentation is neat and legible.
Maintain magazines in clean and organized condition and ensure they are locked and that there is proper key control by the responsible person as defined by company policy.
Provide timely response to all client and employee inquiries and concerns in a respectful manner, building and maintaining strong interpersonal working relationships with all.
Train, lead, observe, coach and mentor Driller Assistants, provide performance feedback to Drilling Supervisors and provide support to other Drillers on the crew as required.
Perform all job functions in a safe and environmentally responsible manner as per Industry Recommended Practice (IRP) standards.
Maintain a safe working environment that is in compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations as well as all applicable company Health and Safety and Compliance protocols.
Conduct inventory of tools required to perform all job functions safely and report inventory needs as required.
Adherence to all applicable CHES policies and CHES SOPs and adhere to government policies at all times.
Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of the Clean Harbors business.

High School diploma or equivalent required.
1+ year of seismic experience as a Driller's Assistant.
Valid Driver's License.
H2S, HazMat, HazCom, First Aid certifications preferred.
Any State blasting licenses held are preferred but not required
ATF background clearance for explosives
Mechanical aptitude
Ability to work outdoors in extreme cold and hot environments
Flexible, motivated and able to work in a fast paced, demanding environment and respond to change quickly
Strong verbal communication skills that will promote effective communication between customers, colleagues and internal management
Strong work ethic with an ability to work independently and in a team environment as a contributing team player.
