HOW TO APPLY FOR A CAREER IN TRADE IN CANADA

It is quite common for high school students to start gaining experience in trade as they continue studying. For some it is a career option for others and for some it is an source of extra income. So as soon as you are aware of as to which trade you want to pursue and in which Canadian province, it is the right time to start.

Where to start from:

  1. Choosing your trade: With over 200 trade options available in Canada you need to choose the perfect one for you.
  2. Find an Employer
  3. Becoming Registered: Once you are hired, you can get registered at your local apprenticeship office.

Eligibility:

  1. Permanent Resident: You should be willing to become a permanent resident based on being qualified in a skilled trade.
  2. New applications being considered for a job will not be more than 100.
  3. To apply you must:
  • Plan to live outside Quebec
  • Proficient in either English or French
  • Have minimum of 2 years of full time experience in the trade
  • Meet all job requirements under National Occupational Classification (NOC)
  • Have an offer of full-time employment for minimum of one year.

Language test:

You need to prove that you are proficient in English or French for each of the four abilities that include reading, writing, listening and speaking. For this, you have to take a language test approved by the CIC. You must then include your mark sheet in the application.

How to Apply:

    1. It includes all the forms that are supposed to be filled during the process along with an instruction guide.
    2. It is an online application. All information filled should be true.

You must fill the fee form and attach it to your application.

Note: All the above fees will be prescribed in the instruction guide. You must pay in Canadian dollars. Online payment is not accepted.

3. Submit Application

b) Fees: The fees should be included with the application

c) Documents: All supporting documents should be attached

You must mail your application to the Centralized Intake Office in Sydney, Nova Scotia (Canada).
